It is time!

NetherRealm Studios finally returned with news about the next iteration of Mortal Kombat. After several teasers with a cryptic video, in the full version of which a clock ticks over closer to the midpoint before skipping 12 entirely and stops at 1, the studio is ready to share new details.

After publishing the premiere trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, the developers announced on the game's official website that the next title would become a "new era" for the franchise. The game will have an updated combat system and several modes that will be announced later.

Mortal Kombat 1 will launch on September 19, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam & Epic Games Store). Pre-orders go live tomorrow, May 19 at 10:00 am PT. Pre-orders receive Shang Tsung as a playable character and Beta access for PlayStation and Xbox players. Beta will be available in August 2023.

Earlier, Ed Boon prepared fans of the Mortal Kombat for a "fun week," which may also be related to the next PlayStation Showcase. The live broadcast on the official PlayStation channel will occur next Wednesday, May 24, at 1 pm PT / 4 pm ET. The show will run for over an hour and cover new games for PlayStation VR2 and PlayStation 5, including titles from PlayStation Studios, third-party developers, and indie creators.
