The sequel has some more approved key characters
Mortal Kombat 2, the sequel to the 2021 live-action movie, has received a few more confirmed performers for key characters.
According to Deadline, New Line Cinema has confirmed the participation of Martyn Ford (Red Sonja, Fast & Furious 9) as Emperor Shao Kahn, Desmond Chiam (Joy Ride) as Edenian King Jerrod, Ana Thu Nguyen (The Spy Who Never Dies) as Queen Sindel and Damon Herriman (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) as Quan Chi.
Notably, Damon Herriman returns in the sequel as a different character. In the previous film, he provided the voice of Kabal.
Karl Urban is already on board to transform into Johnny Cage, alongside Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica MacNamee as Sonya Blade, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, and Adeline Rudolph as Kitana.
Production will begin this summer in Australia with Simon McQuoid in the director's chair. The release date for Mortal Kombat 2 is still unknown. We will likely hear many more updates on the sequel soon due to increased interest in the franchise after the recent premiere of Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay and the upcoming stress test.
