MK1 players on PS5 report significant input control issues
This unexpected problem has left players puzzled and eager for a solution.

Since its September launch, Mortal Kombat 1 on all platforms has been plagued with issues. Over the weekend, content creator The Kompetitor encountered frustrating input errors while playing Tournament and Practice modes on PlayStation 5.

Kompetitor, took to Twitter to highlight problems with input recognition on PS5 Mortal Kombat 1. He encountered a significant input glitch that confused him about what was causing it. He also shared a video showcasing the problem within the game's practice mode.

Inputs in MK1 are not registering properly on PS5. This appears to be a major input glitch that I ran into and I'm not really sure what causes it. Here is a video explaining what is happening in practice mode: https://t.co/pcWiqP85GO

Typically, the 'Throw' and 'Kameo' inputs are assigned to the L1 and R1 buttons in MK1. However, Kompetitor swapped these two buttons in his setup, making L1 activate Kameos and R1 do throws. Unfortunately, as shown in the video, the game failed to recognize and adapt to these button changes, leading to a frustrating experience.

While one user proposed the input glitch could be from remapping controls mid-match, the original poster clarified they had switched the buttons during character selection. Other players echoed experiencing the issue during offline tournaments, forcing them to reset the app to resolve it.

Across Reddit, users described similar random input errors and combo drops. One player who realized this explained why their combos failed inconsistently in the same sequence, and it was not isolated to PlayStation, as an Xbox user reported the same problem.

Overall, there seem to be widespread accounts of unpredictable input failure and dropped combos across various platforms, likely pointing to a bug in the game's code. Fans hope NetherRealm can quickly address this critical issue hampering competitive play, much like they fixed the Player 1 advantage bug. A proper solution would significantly improve the experience for MK1 players across all platforms.
