Letter From the Editor Vol. IV — January
Join me in the brief look over what we've done in the entirety of 2023!

Hi there. My name is Elizbar “Lightfellow” Ramazashvili, I’m an Editor-in-Chief at DashFight. This is our fourth letter, a monthly rubric where I casually talk about our achievements, news, and various FGC topics.

This one’s gonna be a little bit different than the rest – fewer thoughts from me, more direct achievements that we as a team managed to reach in 2023.

The year wasn’t easy – the entire world was stilll dealing with the consequences of the COVID pandemic, and FGC wasn’t any different. Still, this was the first year in a while where most of the notable offline came back, and we actually saw some really high-level in-person competitions.

Last year started with several notable events, some publisher tours ending, but our first big event was Evo Japan, where we had exclusive player and community figure interviews at the biggest Asian event.

Second year running, we had a media partnership with Red Bull’s Golden Letters event. It resulted in exclusive player interviews, this time even with popular Korean and Japanese players like Knee and Chikurin.

We also had a presence at one of the most prestigious events in America –  Combo Breaker, where we also recorded exclusive footage and interviews.

For Evo 2023, we made a Vlog-style coverage with the industry veteran AJ, who recorded and voiced the video, meeting and interviewing many people at the venue, as well as retelling the experience of being there as a spectator.

For the first time ever, we got invited to be a media partner in the major video game conference in Cologne, Germany – gamescom. Yours truly visited the venue and made a succinct recap of my experience there.

But it wasn’t only just events! Also for the first time ever, DashFight received a review copy for the game – Street Fighter 6. We wrote and published our review, following it up with some more technical videos.

Just last month, we got to publish our second pre-release review, this time for Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. We thought the game was very good, if somewhat rough around the edges, but warranting its sequel status, as well as its price tag!

Out of all of our YouTube videos, of which we had over 500, including shorts, you liked the Tekken Martial Arts: Feng, Law, Lei the most, watching it 144,000 times!

We added five new disciplines to our website: Melty Blood: Type Lumina, Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat 1, Project L, and Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. This includes more than 120 characters in all of them combined.

We revived the “Now You See Me” campaign that focuses on women in the FGC spaces, the hardships they face, and their unique experiences. Our CEO, Darina, handled all the interviews herself.

We launched a successful “Top 50 Most Influential People in the FGC” project that was aimed to celebrate some of the shining stars in our niche. Lots of the people we mentioned had interacted with this initiative, replying or commenting on it in a positive light.

At the end of the year, DashFight once again launched the Awards campaign. We added four new categories, and ten community representatives announced the winners on December 29!
