The first season 3 DLC character's trailer drops after Tekken 8 top 8 — and there's plenty more to show
Tekken 8 fans will get a closer look at the first season 3 DLC character, Kunimitsu, at Evo Japan 2026.
According to the official Tekken X account, Kunimitsu's trailer will premiere after top 8 for Tekken 8 at Evo Japan and will show off a lot more than was originally shown when she was announced. Kunimitsu is the first of four DLC characters and will be joined by Bob, Roger Jr., and an unknown character set for release in Winter 2027.
Tekken 8 At Evo Japan
Evo Japan will be the first tier one tournament for the new season and a chance for the game to redeem itself in front of a major audience after one of the most turbulent times in its history. The disaster that was Tekken 8 season 2 is well documented at this point, and the promise was that season 3 would be a return to basics. When it was released back in February, fans were skeptical and criticised the game for not delivering on that promise. This prompted an emergency patch in March, which was much better received.
Tekken 8 will have over 800 participants at Evo Japan, a strong turnout, and good enough for the second-most-entered tournament at the event. It trails only Street Fighter 6, which has drawn over 7,000 entrants.
Knee was the champion last year, marking a historic fourth Evo title. With Arslan Ash back in the mix after missing Evo Japan last year, however, the Pakistani champion will be on the hunt for a record-breaking eighth Evo title, and he will have a point to prove.
