Infamous Kill Bill Technique Replicated in Mortal Kombat 1

Mortal Kombat has always been known for its gore and it is for this reason (among other things) that the game has the level of longevity it has enjoyed so far for over thirty years of existence. 

Another thing Mortal Kombat is known for is its pop culture references and the fairly regular kameo from well known icons in pop culture. Having The Joker, Jason, and Freddy Kruger as DLC characters is one of the ways Mortal Kombat pays homage to the movies and series that made it. 

In a video on their social media page, IGN showed off a Shang Tsung move that was directly ripped from the movie Kill Bill Volume 2. The move, five point palm exploding heart technique, was the finishing blow the Bride landed on the movie's main antagonist, the titular Bill. 

Shang Tsung does the move and the gore that follows is just what you would expect from Mortal Kombat. 

The Bride from Kill Bill has been touted as a possible DLC character for Mortal Kombat, but both MK and Kill BIll share even more references as the 2021 Mortal Kombat movie had the producer of Kill Bill, Bennett Walsh, on board and he was quite instrumental in the implementation of gore in the film.

The responses to the tweet were hilarious and even Ed Boon joined in on the fun stating ironically that they never take inspiration from movies.
