Mortal Kombat 1 Patch Finally Adds Popular Pinned Moves Feature

The latest Mortal Kombat 1 patch includes a highly requested feature: the ability to pin moves on the heads-up display (HUD). Players can now pin up to 10 moves on-screen at once during matches.

This new "pinnable moves" feature will help players, especially beginners, learn new characters and remember intricate combo strings. In previous Mortal Kombat games, pinning moves were a standard feature. But it was strangely absent at MK1's launch.

Many fans assumed pinning moves would be included in Mortal Kombat 1 without issue since it was so popular in NetherRealm's previous games. But they were wrong—MK1 launched without the ability to pin moves. Players quickly let developers know how badly they wanted the functionality to return.

As the name suggests, pinning moves allows users to tag their character's moves and combos so they'll appear on screen during the match. It's a helpful tool benefiting novice and skilled players, and it's been reinstated following the recent Mortal Kombat 1 patch on consoles, adding bug fixes, balance changes, and a Halloween Fatality in the premium storefront.

Players can access this feature once a match has begun by opening the menu and heading to the Move List page. From there, a total of 10 commands can be tagged with the press of a button (Triangle on PS4/PS5 or Y on Xbox).

The new ability to pin moves can be used in Mortal Kombat 1's various game modes like Towers, Practice, Online, and Invasions. So, no matter what mode players are in, they can access the pinned moves they have set up to help them combo and execute special attacks. This also applies to Basic Attacks, Special Moves, Finishers, and Kameo attacks.

The selected moves will receive a black star next to them in the Move List, then appear below the character's health bar when the fight resumes.

The move pins may seem minor, but it represents a shift towards accommodating new players.
