Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Free Edition Will Soon Be Removed
Fighting game publishers are allergic to good decisions.

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising recently made its debut on Switch 2, which also marks the release of the new "Legendary Edition" that serves as a complete version of the game.

The good news here is that the game's base price is getting reduced to just $25 USD, and the complete edition will cost a still accessible $50 USD.

The bad news is that they are also planning to get rid of the Free Edition on 1st of November.

Even with the base edition getting cheaper, this feels like a very odd decision, because the free edition always served as a frictionless entry options for new players.

In theory, you could keep playing the game for free if you didn't mind the limited selection of characters, but realistically it was just a fantastic way to check the game out. If you had a friend who was unsure, they could simply download it, press some buttons, run a few matches, and potentially get the full thing.

As insignificant it might be relative to 60 and 70 dollar games, 25 will still raise the barrier of entry and cut off a lot of potential players.

Hopefully CyGames explains why they want to remove this edition, and ideally introduce some sort of alternative down the line.
