Both organizations continue their downfall
The downfall of two North American esports organizations that were once present in fighting games continues. Both Evil Geniuses and Golden Guardians recently lost spots in the League of Legends Championship Series franchise league, most of its players across many different games, and now continue their downfall.
Evil Geniuses, who not so long ago had Dominique "SonicFox" McLean as the club's active player, recently terminated a big partnership with ESL. The club was part of the so-called "Louvre Agreement", which guaranteed a permanent slot in the ESL Pro League in Counter-Strike.
While it is a big loss for the Evil Geniuses, the organisation still seems to be functioning. However, that might not be the case for Golden Guardians. Like EG, it lost the LCS franchise spot and let go of its players. Recently, the organisation deleted all their social media accounts, except for YouTube channel and Discord server, and their website now only consists of their last statement about LCS exit.
It is sad that most of the Golden Guardian's history was suddenly deleted, but now we can almost confidently say that the organisation is shut down and won't come back soon. The Esports Winter is hard, and unfortunately, not everyone can survive it.
