The basic formula of a fighting game is pretty straightforward. You have virtual characters on two sides, and they have to beat the s… oh, let’s be polite here; they have to decrease the health gauge to zero. What else could be added here?
In fact, throughout the development of this genre, creative minds have coined quite a few brilliant ideas that expand the game rules. Fighting sub-genres have been born, and at this point, we have many of them.
The difference may be rather technical, as the hardware got much more powerful since the first arcade titles. Or it may involve a unique atmosphere or specific move types. All of these differences affect how you play the game and thus create some authentic experiences.
The set of skills and the general principles of mastering the fights unite the sub-genre and make all of us part of one community.
