FAV Gaming Signs First Player in New Women’s Fighting Game Division

Kadokawa FAV Gaming have acted proactively with the announcement of an all-new female fighting game division within their organization. Along with the establishment of the division, they also announced the signing of their first female pro player.

Chinami joins FAV Gaming’s Street Fighter division as their first female pro player. Chinami was a VTuber with a group known as Lethal Plan, who played fighting games and tried to develop the scene through their activities.

She’s a high-level Chun-Li player who currently sits at 1997 MR in Ultimate Master Rank. It seems she might be stepping back from her VTuber activities, as suggested by a stream she did following the official announcement. However, the video is in Japanese, so it is not 100% confirmed. She did, however, open a new X account that will be wholly dedicated to her pro player activities.

In their official blog post, FAV Gaming said that they hope her addition to the team will help to engender more collaboration between players. In her X post, she said:

“I'm thrilled to announce that I've joined FAV Gaming's first-ever women's fighting game division! I'm CHINAMI.

“Moving forward, I plan to participate in tournaments and liven up the Street Fighter 6 community activities!

“Looking forward to your support and cheers!!!”

Recently, Capcom announced that they will be launching an all-female tournament tentatively called “Queen’s Cup” and will also be adding a female division to their monthly esports club tournaments.

With Chinami’s signing, it will be interesting to see if other organizations follow suit and we start to see more female pro players signed to orgs to compete in tournaments.
