Brought into the team in 2019 on behalf of the private equity firm PEAK6 after their acquisition of EG,

In the led-up to 2019, Evil Geniuses's legacy as a winning esports organization throughout multiple games went through a series of failing competitive campaigns across multiple titles, leading to the eventual closure of many of said games' divisions. During those years, private equity firm PEAK6 took on ownership of the organization and placed Nicole LaPointe Jameson as the Chief Executive Officer.

Today, her tenure with the team ends. Taking on the role of interim CEO will be Chris DeApollonio, who up until today had been the Chief Innovation Officer at the organization.

For many, the news comes as a surprise, as recently, the team had lifted the trophy of Riot's VALORANT esport championship, while also having a respectable League of Legends result. During her tenure with the team, EG re-entered the world of fighting games, eventually signing its current roster, including the one-of-a-kind star power of SonicFox.

For some, her lead was less than stellar, particularly among the Counter-Strike fans who, after three years, have yet to lift a major trophy since 2020. Beyond the spoils of competition, or lack thereof, the organization has also been battling allegations and reporting of being a highly corporate and toxic upper management environment that ultimately spills over into its various teams.
