Another major hit to Gaming
Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson released today via EA's official news portal a letter that had been sent out to EA employees. The letter outlines the company's vision for the future, which includes sunsetting of licensed IP games, as Andrew writes:
We are also sunsetting games and moving away from development of future licensed IP that we do not believe will be successful in our changing industry. In the same letter, he also outlines the impact this will have on the company's employee base, with 5% of its total workforce being laid off across various teams. This somewhat mirrors Sony Interactive Entrtetaiment layoffs announced yesterday and seems to point towards a second wave of major layoffs in the gaming industry.
