Ed Boon Teases Potential Mortal Kombat 12 With Cryptic Clock Video
The numbers Ed, what do they mean?!

Ed Boon has once again provided Mortal Kombat fans with another dash of flavor by tweeting out a cryptic video. In it, a clock ticks over closer to the midpoint before skipping 12 entirely. As the 30th-year celebration continues for the franchise, fans are left again in the dust, down bad, looking at grains of sand for answers to what the NetherRealm team has been working on behind the scenes.

The obvious interpretation is that there won't be a Mortal Kombat 12, which would go against the original leak of the game at a Warner Brothers Discovery earnings call. What we can interpret than is that the title players will see is different, with MK12 perhaps used as an internal name.

Maybe the game's timeline has indeed reset, and a new canonical beginning for Earth's heroes, much like how Mortal Kombat 9 felt at the time. In that same line of thinking, the clock starts at 9. But, all things considered, it might be best to steer away from overanalyzing. We know a new Mortal Kombat is coming, and if the rate of teasers continues to increase, we will eventually land on a trailer.
