The streets of Villedor could soon be filled with the over-the-top violence of Mortal Kombat if the dream collaboration proposed comes true.

In an exclusive interview with PCGamesN, Dying Light franchise director Tymon Smektała revealed his hopes to bring a Mortal Kombat crossover to the zombie-apocalypse game, saying,

"My personal dream is to do a Mortal Kombat crossover. So I'll use [this] opportunity to hype it—maybe Ed Boon and the team will read [this] and get interested in it"

Given the gruesome nature of both franchises, a crossover between the two makes perfect sense. Dying Light 2 already features plenty of bloody combat with zombies, so integrating the brutal fighting and outrageous fatalities Mortal Kombat is known for could take the gore to new heights.

As Smektała points out, with the recent release of Mortal Kombat 1 in 2023, now is the ideal time to capitalize on a crossover.

Fans can easily imagine popular Mortal Kombat characters like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Raiden unleashing their signature moves against the virus-infected undead hordes swarming Villedor's streets. Not to mention seeing Mileena ripping zombies apart with her feral sai attacks.

While collaboration with Assassin's Creed: For Honor is intriguing, nothing reasonably matches the possibilities of integrating Dying Light 2's parkour and melee combat with Mortal Kombat's penchant for unrestrained violence.

Only time will tell if Techland and NetherRealm Studios make Smektała's dream a fatality-filled reality. But if it does happen, Dying Light 2 could become the bloodiest and most brutal zombie game ever.
