Cygames Releases Lucilius Character Guide

Lucilius is about to drop for Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising (actually should be up now), so Cygames decided to release a surprisingly thorough character guide to get you familiar with the character.

As many have suspected, he's a rather "slow but hits hard" type of character. His special moves are powerful, but suffer from longer cooldowns unless you upgrade his special sword meter by utilizing those special moves.

Quick summary of what he does:

• Iblis - slow but powerful spining sword projectile that can eat up other projectiles, somewhat reminiscent of Akiha's wheel or Millia disc. You can vary the speed and range with different buttons, which covers a lot of uses, from keepout, to okizeme and engaging.
• Phosphorus - simple sword slash with different properties. Ultimate version acts as a reversal, light one slams opponents, medium pops them into the air and can start combos, heavy acts as kind of like a light one but beefier and can give you a combo on CH.
• Iscariot - nasty looking command dash. Light version simply has Lucilius slam himself into opponents, which gives you a wallbounce in the corner. Medium, heavy, and ultimate will instead acts as a hitgrab that is hard to punish, with different versions covering different distance. Ultimate is somewhat fast, goes full screen, and isn't punishable.
• Tessera - another potentially terrifying special. Tessera is a teleport that has different properties depending on the button. Light will simply move you forward, medium is a safe teleport that puts you in front of the opponent and does a damaging burst that can be followed up in the corner or on CH. Heavy is like a jump in that leaves you plus, and ultimate is akin to medium version but with a guaranteed follow-up.
• Orbital Resistance - this is his unique skill. Pressing the U button will put you in a stance that restricts movement, but gives access to special blade attacks. Light and medium are projectiles of various strengths, while heavy is a Phosphorus style slash that can act as an anti-air and combo starter.
• Axion and Axion Control - his supers. Normal Axion simply fires 3 beams in front of you, while Axion Control allows you to change the beam's trajectory by pressing L/M/H.
• Paraside Lost - your average reversal ultimate, or combo ender with decentish range.

Lucilius looks like a beast if you just look at his tools. Speed could be a potential downfall for this character, but if it doesn't end up being a significant issue, we're looking at a potential top tier character.
