Capcom Explains Why They Want You to Pay to Watch Capcom Cup 12
Your criticism was dully noted.

There was a monumental outrage after Capcom announced the PPV format for upcoming SFL World Championship and Capcom Cup 12. If you want to watch these events or even the VoDs without waiting a week, you'll have to shell out a considerable amount of money. This proposition didn't make much sense for much of the Street Fighter 6 playerbase, and they made sure to let Capcom know.

Following this whiplash, the SF6 director, Takayuki Nakayama, made it clear that the developers had no part in this decision, while Capcom's esports division said that they will explain their reasoning at a later date.

Now here comes the later date, and predictably enough, Capcom has no intention of changing things due to criticism, offering their own reasoning as to why things have to be this way.

Much like people suspected, Capcom sees PPV format as a way to make the tournament scene more "sustainable," as the company continues to lose money on the whole endeavor. However, how effective this will be in achieving their goals is very questionable.

It's hard to gauge the real sentiment from online posts, but so far it certainly seems like there is little to no demand for these tickets, and if Capcom doesn't find an audience for this format, all they will achieve is alienating a lot of the existing fans with this move that clearly says "you are not welcome."
