Can Tekken 8 & Project L Challenge Street Fighter 6 & Mortal Kombat 1?

This generation of fighting games, with Street Fighter 6, and most recently Mortal Kombat 1, has given us plenty to be happy about. Excellent gameplay and a renewed interest in the genre have sparked a massive wave of hype around new fighting game titles.

The second half of these releases is likely to comprise the king of 3D fighting games, Tekken 8, and a newcomer from major studio Riot's Project L. In today's Dashfight video, we explore what these titles might bring into the space.

A rising tide lifts all boats is a common phrase among the FGC crowd, and for good reason, but it remains to be seen if the waves made by the gigantic empire of Riot, or the historically solid core of Tekken's development team, will compare to that of the FGC icon that is Street Fighter or the mainstream cultural behemoth of Mortal Kombat.
