A tragic day for grassroot esports all around, specially the Smash Scene
It is a terrible day to say goodbye to a decade of esports. Beyond the Summit, one of the most prestigious grassroots and bootstrapped organizations in the Super Smash Bros competitive scene, has today through its founder LD, announced that it would cease operations shortly.
In his heartfelt letter, LD explains the trials and tribulations the organization faced from the very start and particularly in the last few years, while also celebrating the incredible work they were able to create for Smash. Of course, this will also impact non-FGC communities, such as DOTA, for whom BTS had developed a prestigious series of tournaments; and VALORANT assisting Ludwig in his projects.
If there is any positive to come out of such news, there is undeniably great talent in BTS, and they will hopefully find their way back into esports and tournament organizing.
