Bandits emerged as the winners of Street Fighter League US after a grand final win over last year’s winner, FlyQuest.
The two teams have a storied rivalry, which was only amped up last season when FlyQuest took the win over Bandits, and Punk, the captain for FlyQuest had some choice words to say.
However, Punk was powerless to stop the unstoppable train that was Bandits who had already finished the regular season with a record-breaking number of points, only dropping one match. MenaRD, captain for Bandits, has been in imperious form as he has only lost twice throughout the season. Once in the first half to NL and the second time against Xiao Hai.
The scores ended 70-10, which is nothing short of a beatdown. However, FlyQuest had been on a roll all day. After finishing the regular season in 4th place, they were drafted to go up against 3rd-place KSG and start off on the away side. Even with this disadvantage, Punk, Nephew, Psycho, and Riddles were able to surmount great odds, including a Punk win over Xiao Hai, which was a runback of their meeting at Esports World Cup.
With such an impressive win, FlyQuest again showed their mettle with another bracing win over 2Game, and their prodigy, Blaz. In the clutch moments, Psycho was able to defeat the 15-year-old to send his team to the grand finals.
It was beginning to look like a fairy tale run was on the cards, but up against the suffocating might of Bandits, FlyQuest were no match. It wasn’t even a case of MenaRD alone standing in the way of victory, but rather, the entire team with Caba and Booce picking up valuable wins and Mena winning both of his sets to once again take the crown they had relinquished to FlyQuest last season.
This means that Bandits will be the representatives for USA at the SFL World Championships taking place next year.
However, with their form, it is really hard to see who could stand up to them.
With the conclusion of SFL USA, all eyes turn to Japan which is the only league without a winner. The regular season is done, and 6 teams will be vying for the main championship with both Good 8 Squad and REJECT sitting at the top of groups S and F, respectively. Competing for the title with them will be Nagoya Oja NTP, Crazy Raccoon, Hiroshima Team iXA, and ZETA DIVISION.
The SFL Japan finals will take place in early 2026.
