Europe’s greatest come to Dublin

This weekend, one of the classic fan-favorite fighting game events is going to be held in Dublin, Ireland – Celtic Throwdown. Even better news – it’s going to be offline. Lockdowns are easing up a bit on the Emerald Isle, but the organizers are still going in with all the possible precautions.

The pandemic is not yet fully over in Ireland. We are hosting CT2021 because we can deliver a safe event for the FGC but only with the caution of the above restrictions. They are there to protect us all, together. They are not designed to hinder us although they will change CT a little for some, it will allow us to start again. As such any and all objections to these will result in immediate disqualification from the tournaments & removal from the venue. We have to take a zero tolerance stance. We will also be monitoring any changes to the guidance from government and will act if permissible. We want people to have fun. This year will be different than normal but together we can make CT 2021 enjoyable, memorable and a step towards returning to live tournaments!

Almost 300 players are registered to be taking part in all the games at this event.

There will be seven main games:

  • Street Fighter V: Champion Edition

  • Mortal Kombat 11

  • DragonBall FigherZ

  • Tekken 7

  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

  • SOULCALIBUR VI

  • Guilty Gear -STRIVE-

Two side tournament titles:

  • UNICLR

  • Samurai Shodown

And two retro tournaments:

  • Ultra Street Fighter IV

  • Ultimate Marvel v Capcom 3

Matchdays on Saturday and Sunday begin at 11AM BST. Streams will be divided between Spag_TK, UnequalledMedia, AsOneLive, and Lythero.
