Arjun’s Arcade Story Gives Us Glimpse Into His SF6 Motivations

For the vast majority of people who boot up Street Fighter 6, they are playing to throw hands, as they say. But there are a few people who are also interested in the lore of the game.

For those people, the upcoming character Arjun is another piece of the large Street Fighter jigsaw puzzle, with his story and motivations. Capcom put out the start of his arcade story today, which gives us a brief overview of why Arjun is in the game.

There is very little in terms of new information, as the story opens with Arjun finding his partner on the verge of death. He holds him in his arms as he dies and tries to get information on who did this to him. However, his partner dies before he can get the words out, only able to utter “his power” before succumbing to his injuries.

We do learn that Arjun’s surname is Gummadi and that he is a detective in the Indian police force. We also learn that his partner was conducting a secret investigation that was off the books and led to his death. Arjun was helping, but knew little about what it was really about.

There was an interesting line about Arjun’s partner’s elitist tendencies, which makes one wonder if perhaps there will be something about the Indian caste system, especially as Arjun is much darker-skinned.

Now, Arjun is on the run to find the killer.

Early speculation points to JP as the culprit, or at least as someone involved in it somehow. Whether it will lead to larger revelations about the Street Fighter lore is unknown at this point.

Arjun will join the cast on the 13th of October 2026.
