Bison Leads Street Fighter 6 World Warrior Character Representation

Bison is the most popular character for pro players in Street Fighter 6!

Or at least that is what is suggested based on new data showing character representation within World Warrior tournaments up until the 28th of September 2026.

The data comes via Cat Cammy, a prominent member of the FGC who, along with AlietteFaye, helps put out insightful data regarding character usage in Street Fighter 6.

The data, which was shared on X, has Bison at the very top with almost 75 appearances in the top 8 of various World Warrior tournaments. This is followed by Cammy, while the top three is rounded out by JP.

An interesting fact someone brought up regarding the top 10 characters is that they are all equipped with crouching medium kick, which can be chained into a Drive Rush for incredible pressure. This feeds into the idea that characters that have cr.MK into DR are inherently more powerful than those without.

That said, the top 10 characters aren’t very surprising, as they are considered the top tiers of the game, including Ryu, Sagat, Terry, Dee Jay, and Mai.

What was of more interest are the characters that made up the bottom 10.

In last place, with the least amount of representation in top 8s for World Warrior, is Lily, which is hardly shocking as she is considered one of the worst characters in the game. What is a little surprising is the addition of Guile, Zangief, and Jamie to this category.

Jamie can be explained by the fact that, before his recent buffs, barely anyone was using him, and even with the buffs, he is still an incredibly high-skill character to play, which means many still avoid him.

But for Guile and Zangief, one would expect that, as upper-mid-tier characters, they would perhaps get more representation. However, I think their popularity has been inflated by the caliber of players who tend to pilot these characters.

Kobayan and Jr. are two Japanese players who have done a lot to increase the estimation of Zangief in the eyes of the world. With strong tournament placements, the two have made people fear the Red Cyclone. Add to that the relative success of veterans like Itabashi Zangief, and even the furore surrounding the young, 17-year-old Haitei Raoyue, and you can see why it would be easy to think Zangief should be higher up.

Guile is pretty much in the same camp, with the strength of Higuchi, who as a Guile specialist has represented the character admirably. That said, it is also true that a lot of longtime Guile mains have started to drop the character.

NuckleDu, an American player and former Capcom Cup winner, has dropped the character, while Caba from the Dominican Republic, who at one time was considered the best Guile in the world, has found himself using a lot of Sagat recently. Other players who have stuck with the character have also ensured they have a pocket pick, with examples being Lexx and Rainpro, who both pick Bison as an alternate against certain matchups.

It is likely that this is how things will remain until the release of Arjun next month. The second DLC character of Year 4 of Street Fighter 6 will come out on the 13th of October, and who knows, he just might shake up the meta.
