2 Million Matches in Four Days: The Invincible VS Beta Numbers Are In
Quarter Up's tag fighter made a strong first impression, even as rage quitting cast a shadow over an otherwise promising test

The numbers are in for the Invincible VS open beta, and they make for impressive reading. Quarter Up has released a breakdown of data from the test period, revealing that players logged over 2 million matches across the four-day beta window, a figure that speaks to the kind of appetite for the game from players itching to get their hands on it.

Invincible VS is a 3v3 tag fighter built on the acclaimed Invincible IP, featuring characters drawn from the animated series. The beta offered ten playable characters and ran exclusively on console, with the full game set to launch on Steam alongside its console release at the end of April.

What the Data Shows

Beyond the match count, Quarter Up highlighted several other findings from the beta. The Himalayas stage emerged as the most popular arena among players. At the same time, the most used trio was Invincible, Omni-Man, and Allen the Alien. This combination will surprise few fans of the source material, given that the three are central figures in the series and share significant story history. Whether that trio holds up as the meta develops post-launch remains to be seen.

The Shadow Over the Beta

While the beta was an overall success, there was the issue of rage-quitting that put a damper on things.  Some players were disconnecting mid-match to avoid a loss and deny their opponent a win, and this was widespread throughout the beta and became the dominant talking point on social media. High-profile FGC figures including Justin Wong and Diaphone were among those who called out the behaviour publicly. The Invincible VS development team responded directly, clarifying that players who leave mid-match receive a loss and a points deduction, though they acknowledged the penalty might not always reflect immediately in a player's profile.

It is a problem Quarter Up will want firmly behind them before launch day.

What makes Invincible VS particularly worth watching is the company it keeps. It is one of three anticipated tag fighters releasing in 2026, alongside Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls and Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game. Avatar is currently scheduled for July, while Tokon has confirmed a 2026 window without a specific date. All three are backed by major IPs with built-in audiences that extend well beyond the traditional fighting game fanbase.

This could be a huge deal for fighting games with 2026 looking like one of the best years for fresh fighting game releases.

Invincible VS launches April 30th.
