Kitana

Story

Her life started with a tragic lie that pushed Princess Kitana to the path of evil. She is the daughter of Edenia’s ruler — alas, her father was murdered by Shao Kahn, and the Outworld emperor hid the truth from the little girl. 

For quite a long time, Kitana considered Shao Kahn to be her loving parent. And she was very loyal to him, becoming an assassin and one of the most prominent warriors of Outworld. The connection to Shao Kahn deeply affected the very personality of Kitana, making her arrogant and even brutal. But at some point, her internal doubts grew significantly stronger. Kitana started actively questioning the morality of her own actions and then discovered the real “face” of Shao Kahn.

This rebirth was tightly connected to the meeting of Kitana with Raiden and Liu Kang. She was sent to fight Earthrealmers at the Mortal Kombat tournament but finished up joining them. Cold and merciless killer disappeared, and new Princess Kitana awoke. This was her more honest personality, closer to the real roots of the Edenia royal family. New Kitana is noble, sincere, and selfless.

Her relationship with Shao Kahn changed drastically. Kitana has become his huge enemy, gathering good warriors of the Outworld to prevent the previous emperor from returning to power.

Kitana has pretty deep feelings for Liu Kang. The sparkle of love exists between these Mortal Kombat characters. But they live in a rather chaotic multiverse, so calm life is not going to happen — at least yet. It feels pretty significant that one who resets the timeline in MK1 is Liu Kang. What could this massive action bring to Kitana?

In the game Mortal Kombat 1, we find her being a loyal sister to Mileena, who is preparing to rule the Empire. Someone considers Kitana a better candidate for this role, but the girl throws those ideas away. Kitana’s deep intention is to make Mileena a true Empress.

Personality

This girl made it through pretty drastic transformations and demonstrated an impressive ability to adapt to new situations and circumstances. Her personality changed significantly after discovering the truth about Shao Kahn’s crime. From some strong villain tendencies to more sensitive features — Kitana unleashes her true form.

Playstyle

As a Mortal Kombat character, Kitana uses projectiles a lot. She relies on zoning options, testing opponents’ reaction and game knowledge.

Appearance

Kitana is a pretty girl who often hides her face behind a mask. She has long dark hair and an expressive look. Her steel fans are a dangerous weapon, which has become a strong part of Kitana’s appearance.
