Biography
Story
Rock Howard was born in South Town as the son of Geese Howard and Marie Heinlein. After Geese’s death, Terry Bogard took Rock in and raised him, despite Geese being Terry’s greatest enemy. This made Rock’s life a constant clash between two legacies: Terry’s kindness and sense of justice, and Geese’s blood, power, and criminal shadow.
Rock trained under Terry for years and eventually became a strong martial artist in his own right. He made his playable debut in Garou: Mark of the Wolves, where he and Terry entered the Maximum Mayhem King of Fighters tournament. At the end of the tournament, Rock faced Kain R. Heinlein, who revealed himself as Rock’s maternal uncle and claimed that Rock’s mother was still alive. Rock chose to leave with Kain to learn the truth, promising Terry he would return.
In Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Rock is still trying to find his own path. He has lived a new life with Terry, but the truth about his mother and Geese’s legacy keeps pulling him back into South Town’s darker world. Rock fights not to become Terry or Geese, but to decide what kind of person he wants to be.
Appearance
Rock is a young American man with blond hair and red eyes. He wears a red, white, and black jacket over a black shirt, along with black pants, black shoes, and fingerless gloves. His look combines Terry’s street-fighter style with Geese’s sharper, more refined presence, which fits his role as the successor caught between both men.
Gameplay
Rock is an all-rounder with a strong and flexible toolkit. He has a projectile, a reversal, solid pokes, good corner carry, and several defensive options, making him a good pick for players who want a fundamentals-based character. His moves also reflect both sides of his story, with techniques inspired by Terry and Geese, including Rising Tackle, Reppu Ken, Raging Storm, and Power Geyser “R.”
Rock’s main strength is that he can play several parts of the game well. He can poke, pressure, defend, and convert into strong damage. However, he is not the best specialist in any one area. Dedicated zoners can out-zone him, rushdown characters can overwhelm better than him, and his trickier tools require the player to know when to use them. He is straightforward on the surface, but still rewards clean execution and smart decision-making.
