Biography
Story
Mr. Karate is the masked Kyokugen Karate master joining Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves as part of Season Pass 2. The Mr. Karate name goes back to Art of Fighting, where the original masked fighter was Takuma Sakazaki, while Ryo Sakazaki later used the mantle as Mr. Karate II. City of the Wolves introduces this version as Mr. Karate III, and SNK Wiki identifies the man behind the mask as Robert Garcia.
SNK’s official profile keeps the identity more mysterious, presenting him as a tengu-masked martial artist whose name recalls an old terror of South Town. This version is not treated as a simple copy of Takuma or Ryo. His strength is his own, and SNK states his Kyokugen skill surpasses Marco Rodrigues, the current head of the school.
In City of the Wolves, Mr. Karate arrives in South Town looking for stronger opponents and the peak of his own potential. That makes him less of a crime boss or revenge-driven fighter and more of a walking challenge to everyone who thinks they understand Kyokugen Karate. Very humble. Just a man in a demon mask telling the city its karate is mid.
Appearance
Mr. Karate wears the tengu mask that defines the persona, hiding his identity while linking him to the old South Town legend. His City of the Wolves look presents him as an older, powerful martial artist with long light hair, facial hair, heavy gloves, and a sharper, more intimidating version of the Kyokugen image. The design makes him look less like Robert Garcia in a costume and more like the mask has started making HR decisions.
Gameplay
Mr. Karate uses Kyokugen Karate, with techniques connected to Robert Garcia, Ryo Sakazaki, and Takuma Sakazaki. SNK Wiki notes that this version can use Ryugeki Ken, Haoh Shoukou Ken, rapid kick attacks, and wind-based blows, giving him the expected Kyokugen mix of projectile pressure, explosive strikes, and heavy martial arts damage.
In City of the Wolves, Mr. Karate is built around strong Kyokugen fundamentals with a more boss-like edge. His available movelist material points to move-canceling dash step chains and a parry with offensive and defensive follow-ups, which fits the idea of a high-power martial artist who can pressure, punish, and turn mistakes into serious damage.
