Biography

Story

Marco Rodrigues is a Brazilian Kyokugenryu Karate fighter and one of Ryo Sakazaki’s main disciples. He debuted in Garou: Mark of the Wolves, where he represented Kyokugen Karate in the King of Fighters: Maximum Mayhem tournament. In older Western releases, he was known as Khushnood Butt, but SNK now uses Marco Rodrigues internationally.

After earning his black belt, Marco opened a dojo in Brazil and began teaching Kyokugenryu Karate. When he returned from the Maximum Mayhem tournament, he found out his best students had been beaten by the “Gym Buster,” pushing him to hunt down the culprit and defend the reputation of his school.

In Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Marco’s dojo sign has been stolen, forcing him to train at Yuri Sakazaki’s fitness club while he prepares for a new King of Fighters tournament. For Marco, the tournament is a chance to promote his dojo, recover the sign, and prove that Kyokugen Karate still hits like a truck with a black belt.

Appearance

Marco is a large, muscular Brazilian man with black hair, thick sideburns, and a beard. He wears a white karate gi with a black belt and usually fights barefoot, keeping his design close to the classic Kyokugen Karate look. He has a stern, intense presence, but his personality mixes serious martial arts discipline with a more reckless and playful side.

Gameplay

Marco is a traditional shoto with strong tools for both beginners and experienced players. He has a reliable fireball, a powerful uppercut, strong damage, big normals, and explosive offense once he gets close. His movement is also better than his size suggests, giving him strong ways to approach and keep pressure going.

His biggest strength is how quickly he can turn one opening into a dangerous situation. Marco’s hard knockdowns and high-low or strike-throw pressure make him scary once he starts his offense. However, he can struggle at mid-range because several of his bigger pokes do not cancel into specials, forcing him to commit harder than safer characters. Pick him if you want a straightforward karate monster with real pressure.
