Biography
Story
Kevin Rian is a high-spirited S.W.A.T. officer from Second South Town. He made his debut in Garou: Mark of the Wolves, where he entered the King of Fighters: Maximum Mayhem tournament while investigating the murder of his partner and best friend. The only clue he had was that the killer was a long-haired man, which eventually put him on the trail of Freeman.
After his partner’s death, Kevin also began looking after Marky, his friend’s young son. Marky often travels with him, giving Kevin a softer, more fatherly side beneath the loud, hard-hitting cop routine. He can look like a brute at first glance, but his story is built around loyalty, grief, and protecting the people left behind.
In Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Kevin is still stationed in South Town and continues hunting Freeman. With Marky by his side, he patrols the city’s streets as a “keeper of the peace,” bringing explosive force to anyone unlucky enough to end up on the wrong side of his investigation. Subtle? No. Effective? Very.
Appearance
Kevin is a tall, muscular American man with short blond hair. In City of the Wolves, he wears a black tactical vest, blue S.W.A.T.-style pants, heavy boots, gloves, and police gear around his waist. His design sells the idea immediately: this is not a clean tournament martial artist, this is a guy who kicks doors open for a living.
Marky is often shown with him, wearing casual clothes and a cap, which adds contrast to Kevin’s aggressive police look.
Gameplay
Kevin is a heavy-hitting brawler with big buttons, strong damage, and explosive pressure. His game plan is fairly direct: control mid-range with large hitboxes, punish mistakes hard, then close in and force dangerous close-range situations.
His key strengths are damage, reach, and scary confirms. Dream Cancel highlights Gatling Freezer as one of his defining tools, since Kevin can turn single-hit confirms and pokes into serious reward. Once he gets close, he also has access to strong mixups, including left-right pressure, high-low threats, frame traps, and a command grab.
Kevin’s weaknesses are also clear. He can struggle against zoning, his speed is limited, and his defensive options are not as comfortable as some of the cast. He needs patience, good timing, and clean confirms to shine.
