Everything is vibecoded these days, who cares, why are we even here.
If you followed the modding scene for any game long enough you know how things usually go. Someone announces a new project that they're working on, and then chip away at it in their free time as a sort of passion project.
It was generally rare for anything major to just pop out of thing air, but that has been the consistent quality of recent video game modding projects that sound too good to be true. Street Fighter 4 rollback? Both major projects have Claude as one of the contributors.
Assist mode for 3rd Strike? Believe it not, also with AI. As cool as it looks (and it even works), another consistent quality of these projects is that they tend to struggle with obscure or very specific issues, and since they are not driven by passion, the support tends to be lackluster.
Will this be another example of this? Only time can tell. But if you're excited to play an assist fighter version of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, you should probably do so knowing that it was made with a piece of garbage that helped to make hardware less accessible, and only exists thanks to countless communities suffering from their proximity to data centers, among many other issues.
But hey at least we can call in Urien to do Aegis Reflector, what a wonderful world.
