Mad Catz has recently announced that they're partnering with Yatagarasu development team to bring forth a sequel titled Yatagarasu Enter the Eastward.
The demo for it will be playable during CES (Consumer Electronics Show) at the Mad Catz Suite in the Venetian Hotel, and offers a supposed blend of classic 2D fighting game mechanics with modern gameplay.
While this sounds great and all, the announcement also denotes that the previous Yatagarasu has been a success, the user feedback makes it hard to believe. While the game had an extremely successful Indiegogo campaign and attracted many players with its graphics and 3rd Strike style gameplay, the reception post launch has been mixed to say the least.
One of the biggest sticking points, by far, is that the Steam version of Yatagarasu was simply abandoned with no care for unfulfilled promise of implementing GGPO netcode, which has been one of the fulfilled Indiegogo stretch goals.
