The hardly expected sequel for the original Yatagarasu has dropped on steam a few days ago, the game is called Yatagarasu Enter the Eastward, and represents a sort of update to the original, rather than a wildly different title.
Therein lies one of its biggest problems. The original title attracted attention for being a fighting game that faithfully carried on the legacy of arcade fighters into the modern era of 3D graphics and new mechanics, but it failed to ever hit the real 1.0 version, including the failure to deliver on stretch goals, one of which promised rollback netcode.
Now Enter the Eastward is out, and even before release the developer confirmed that it will use delay based netcode, a death sentence for any fighting game past 2021, and that's not even mentioning the serious oversaturation we have between Mortal Kombat 1, Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, Under Night 2, and Granblue Rising.
Anyone still interested in the game is able to pick it up for just $15. It currently sits at 4 concurrent players, with an all-time peak of 62. Out of 14 reviews, only 4 are positive.
