The Capcom Pro Tour is a year-long event which encompasses several tournaments and from them come the qualifiers for Capcom's biggest tournament — Capcom Cup.
Over the years, Capcom Cup has introduced the scene to new world warriors, hype moments, and some of the biggest prize pools in fighting games. In 2017, Capcom Cup introduced MenaRD to the world and in 2023, we got to see the power of Zhen when he made the finals after winning the Last Chance Qualifier.
We also got the greatness of iDom thanks largely to Capcom Cup in 2019. These stories are remarkable because Capcom Cup featured the very best players in the whole world, so the players that emerged as world beaters from the tournament were already of proven credentials.
However, Capcom has somewhat changed the format to accommodate more regions and more players, but this new format has taken something integral away from the tournament. Also the reduction in offline tournaments and making most of the tournaments online has really reduced the excitement for the event and this could very well impact the viewing numbers for these events.
