Virtua Fighter Crossroads Announces Bakunawa Killer
He might be more familiar than you realise.

SEGA didn't let the opportunity pass by and brought a new announcement to this past EVO. The latest confirmed playable member of playable cast is the Bakunawa Killer.

However, if you were looking for more legacy characters, this might be a more exciting announcement than you might expect.

What's interesting about this, is that the name might be a sort of placeholder. He may very well be called Bakunawa Killer when the game comes out, but the trailer makes it clear that he's not "new."

To start with, we see some moves that are very similar to Lei-Fei, but also a few attacks that are similar to Lau Chan, Pai Chan's father, not to mention the iconic braid.

When Bakunawa Killer's mask comes off, Pai Chan is shocked and asks "how is this possible?" Now, the most obvious interpretation would be that Lei-Fei somehow learned Lau Chan's style, is mimicking his looks, and is now hunting down martial artists in search of something more.

However, we're talking about a series that dabbled in the paranormal before, and we might see that again in spite of their stated realistic direction. For example, it could be an unknown descendant of Lau Chan. It could be Lau Chan himself after some weird de-aging procedure. Hell, it could even be a clone of him who is being sent out into the world to be tested. Would certainly not be out of place in a world where Dural exists, and a story set inside a city ruled by martial arts prowess.

Even if it's Lei-Fei, we could be looking at something more drastic than him somehow adopting Koenken. This whole situation adds a fairly interesting wrinkle for the storytelling of this game. It's quite interesting to see where they'll go with this.
