Unexpected Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Patch Is Breaking the Game
Though you can look at it as an opportunity to discover new and exciting bugs.

Out of nowhere, Capcom woke up and decided that now is the time to adress Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3's compatibility on Windows 11 and "fix some bugs." At least that's what their latest patch notes say.

The end result? Some bugs are indeed fixed, but that came at the cost of also accidentally removing a bit of tech and pretty much breaking Phoenix.

So far there are at least 3 major consequences of this patch. The most notable one being that Phoenix now needs more than the maximum 5 bars to activate Dark Phoenix, which more or less destroys the character.

Similar situation happened to Kubo's ecape tech. Now, this one was very much a bug, but not any different from countless bugs that became part of normal gameplay. If you specifically had one character down, then during super freeze you could do an input to "escape" by tagging out your character, but since the character getting tagged in is "dead," your character just comes back.

Modders are already trying to fix this, but there's a chance that Capcom restores changes that weren't intended, though they might just leave it at fixing Dark Phoenix and calling it a day.
