Twitch, Nvidia and OBS To Bring Encoding Multiple Resolutions At Once
Twitch
Soon, not only Twitch partners will offer their viewers to choose the quality of the stream.

Twitch announced a change that will ease the life of many streamers. Together with Nvidia and OBS, the streaming platform works on providing transcodes (the ability to stream in multiple resolutions and qualities) to every streamer, not only Twitch partners. It will be possible to the Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics card owners thanks to the dedicated encoders on these GPUs.

The closed beta version of the OBS client will be available later this week. For streamers, that might mean the quality of life improvement both to themselves (it will optimise the settings depending on the hardware) and to their viewers (they will have the option to choose quality).

Also, Twitch and Nvidia are working on bringing AV1 codec, which is more efficient than AVC. However, currently, it will be limited only to OBS Studio and Nvidia GeForce RTX 40-series graphics card users. While this does not include every streamer, it is still a step forward.
