Toy Fighting Game "Knock Off" Releases a Demo
Fighting game based around classic toys releases a demo while seeking Kickstarter funding.

A new indie fighting game has recently emerged from the Dominican Republic.

Knock Off is an assist fighter with a distinct aesthetic, based entirely around plastic toys inspired by classic 80s and 90s cartoons. The current line-up only has 6 characters, but includes some obvious homages to He-Man and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, among other things.

The game is currently seeking $250,000 in funding and seemingly to bolster that effort, they have released a public demo where everyone can try out the game.

For an indie project it's hard not to be impressed. While the sound effects are not the greatest, the visuals and animations are both great looking and well polished. Even though the gameplay doesn't offer much that you haven't seen before, there is an obvious appeal here.

However, as cool as it is, the future of the project does not look great. The game only gathered $15k after over 20 days. They only have another 24 days to reach the stated goal of $250k. Unless this game can somehow bounce back with a massive marketing or endorsement campaign, it just does not seem feasible.
