Edia secures license to bring “Toshinden,” “Toshinden 2,” and “Toshinden 3” to modern consoles in 2026-27.

Japanese publishing company Edia Co., Ltd. has signed a licensing deal with Takara Tomy Co., Ltd. to bring the classic 3-D fighting game series Battle Arena Toshinden, including the titles Toshinden (1995), Toshinden 2 (1995), and Toshinden 3 (1996), to modern-generation consoles, as the franchise marks its 30th anniversary.

The original Toshinden was one of the first weapon-based 3-D fighting games on the PlayStation, ahead of some of the more well-known franchises in the genre. With this revival, Edia states it aims not just for direct ports but “offerings that will be enjoyed by many fans.” The release is scheduled for fiscal years 2026 through 2027. For fans of retro fighting games and gaming history, this announcement offers both nostalgia and the chance to revisit these titles on modern hardware.
