Top Scandanavian Tournament Headstomper Finally Gets Date in November
With their traditional June date taken over by Evo 2026, November will be the month for Sweden's top FGC event

The annual Scandinavian event that brings the European FGC together, Headstomper, has finally been announced for 2026, but with a twist.

The tournament, which regularly takes place in June, has announced its 2026 dates for November, which is a significant move from the status quo.

They made the announcement on X, asking potential visitors to set aside the weekend of the 6th to make it a date in Malmo, Sweden.

The Evo 2026 Angle

Headstomper’s move is likely due to the fact that Evo 2026 has been moved to late June and seeing it is considered the biggest fighting game tournament in the world, having another event in the same window might not be advantageous. This points to a wider issue of tournaments having to change traditional dates to accommodate Evo’s new ownership. Back in February, it was revealed that Evo had been bought outright by Saudi-backed RTS, and soon after, some changes were announced for Evo, including an expansion that will see up to 9 editions of Evo within a calendar year.

To this end, some of the traditional ‘June’ tournaments had to change course with CEO announcing it will hold in August instead, and Headstomper has now followed suit with the November announcement.

More details will come forth in the future about the games that will feature, but it is widely assumed that Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, and Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will be represented.
