Tokido continued his resurgence in Street Fighter 6 with a stunning win over Higuchi at the Asian Champions League tournament for SF6 to claim another big tournament win and announce himself as a major threat going into the 3rd season of the game.
The Asian Champions League, which debuted this year, featured over 700 players, including several top-level talent like Punk and MenaRD.
Tokido defeated the likes of Chris Wong, LeShar, Armperor, Rainpro, Moke before finally defeating Higuchi in Grand Final to seal the victory.
Higuchi for his part, had to fight through the losers side after losing to Hikaru and then defeating his teammates, Yamaguchi and Hikaru, when the two met again. He also defeated grappler, Jr. and Moke in the losers final. He got a 3-1 win over Tokido in Grand Final to force a reset, but could do nothing about the veteran's prowess with Ken and had to concede victory.
That said, Higuchi did not leave empty-handed as he sealed his slot in the Esports World Cup thanks to finishing in the top 3 of the tournament.
There were two EWC spots up for grabs, and since Tokido has already qualified thanks to his top 8 finish at Capcom Cup, his slot passed to someone else. With Higuchi and Moke making up the rest of the top 3, they have now qualified for the tournament.
