Tifa Lockhart Is Coming to Street Fighter 6 and She Is Not Alone
Three brand new characters join the Final Fantasy VII icon as Capcom reveals the full season 4 roster at Summer Game Fest

The Summer Game Fest showcase has taken place, and one of the biggest reveals was the announcement of the four characters that will make up Street Fighter 6's fourth season.

Summer Game Fest is one of the gaming industry's most prominent annual showcases, and Capcom's slot in the presentation delivered exactly the kind of news the SF6 community had been anticipating since the season 4 announcement was delayed beyond Ingrid's release.

The four characters include three that are completely new to the franchise and, in a fascinating twist, Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII will also be joining as a guest character.

The three new characters are:

  • Yasmine
  • Arjun
  • Bosch

The Bosch Question

Bosch is a character many will recognise from World Tour mode, where he appeared as Luke's other student before dying later in the story. His inclusion as a playable character is therefore an immediately puzzling one, and it has sparked considerable speculation about how Capcom intends to explain his presence.

That speculation has been given fuel by the trailer itself, which is narrated by Ingrid, who is shown flipping through a book and speaking about new warriors entering the fight. Given that Ingrid is established as a powerful, god-like entity capable of extraordinary feats, some have theorised that she may have intervened in some way, perhaps pulling Bosch from an alternate timeline, to make his appearance possible. It is the kind of lore speculation that the SF6 community does well, and the trailer seems almost designed to encourage it.

A Season That Has Divided the Fanbase

Yasmine will be the first character to arrive, with her release expected in August, marking the official start of the fourth season. She will be the first newcomer to the franchise since A.K.I. all the way back in season 1, a distinction that has generated genuine excitement among a significant portion of the fanbase.

However, the announcement has divided opinion. Those thrilled by the prospect of fresh faces and a guest character of Tifa's profile sit alongside a section of the fanbase that is considerably less satisfied. The absence of recognisable characters from the Alpha series, Street Fighter III, and Street Fighter IV has left many feeling that the season represents a missed opportunity to celebrate the franchise's legacy.

As more details about the season emerge in the coming months, the full picture of what season 4 has to offer will become clearer.
