What Can You Play In January Aside From Tekken 8
Check out some of the great games that come out this month

January 26 is the day Tekken 8 comes out, completing the trinity of the major releases with Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1. But we know that fighting game fans aren’t just fighting game fans, you guys love games in general. So here are some of the releases that may interest you this coming month:

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

  • Release Date: January 16
  • Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X

This new sidescrolling action from Ubisoft Montreal tells the story of a warrior named Sargon, a member of the Immortals clan. He is tasked with traveling to the city of Mount Qaf to rescue the kidnapped Prince Ghassan.

The game isn’t a main entry in the Prince of Persia series, but rather a spin-off. It looks to be quite action-driven, with a healthy amount of puzzles and combat. Definitely worth a look.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered

  • Release Date: January 19
  • Platforms: PS5

This is a weird one. The Last of Us Part II was released in 2020 for PS4, and it still looks and plays fine, even on PS5. There probably wasn’t any need for a remaster this early, but Naughty Dog still decided to do it, and the updated native PS5 version of the controversial game will come out on January 19. Aside from a visual upgrade, the game will feature a new rogue-lite mode, and three cut levels from the original.

If you’re interested in the continuation of Ellie’s story, this is the best time to try it out.

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy

  • Release Date: January 24
  • Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One

Another re-release on our calendars. A set of fourth, fifth and sixth mainline games in the Ace Attorney series will be released on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One. This set will include sixteen episodes, two of which were previously available only in the DLC format.

If you’re interested in playing games as ace detectives Apollo Justice and Phoenix Wright, it’s highly advisable to play the previous trilogy first, but this here is also a decent option to start getting acquainted with the franchise.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

  • Release Date: January 26
  • Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X

The game that comes out the same day Tekken 8 does. This is a continuation of the story of Ichiban Kasuga from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and it will feature many familiar characters from the series, including the Dragon of Dojima, Kiryu Kazuma himself.

This is a direct sequel to the previous game, so it’s highly recommended to have played at least the seventh Yakuza entry, because it’s not the greatest starting spot for the beginners.

Series’ veterans, however, will be treated to the biggest Yakuza game to date: at least 70 hours of the story, and half of that in side activities. How’s that for a treat?
