M-D-LUFFY-19 with a remarkable comeback

Tekken Online Challenge season is entering its endgame phase, and we will start witnessing the Regional Finals every player tried so hard to qualify for. This weekend should have had two regions playing, but the South African event has been postponed to a later date due to external circumstances.

Thankfully, the Middle East Regional Finals went on without any problems, and we witnessed some very well-fought battles, big upsets, losers bracket runs, and even a bracket reset.

One of the big surprises was that the season leader Ultra Instinct Potato didn’t manage to get into the Top-4 of this event, losing vs. BK early and never fully gaining the momentum back.

The biggest entertainer that day, however, was M-D-LUFFY-19. He got swiped by Complain in the winners final, managed to overcome the fierce resistance of FEDERER2009 in the losers final, only to meet with Complain in the grand final again. This time, things went better for him. First, he forced a bracket reset in a Paul vs. Yoshimitsu matchup. Complain decided to go with Kunimitsu instead for the last battle, but Paul’s pressure proved to be too much to handle. M-D-LUFFY-19 is the Tekken Online Challenge 2021 – Middle East: Regional Champion.

The final Top-8 looks like this:

  • 1. M-D-LUFFY-19

  • 2. Complain

  • 3. FEDERER2009

  • 4. Devilrocky

  • 5. BK

  • 5. Raef

  • 7. Mohammad Mishima

  • 7. Ultra Instinct Potato

Tekken Online Challenge 2021 will be back next weekend with South American and West African events.
