Tekken 8 unveiled the trailer for its third season during the recently concluded Tekken World Tour Finals. While LowHigh’s remarkable tournament victory dominated competitive discussion on the night, much of the broader attention quickly shifted to what Bandai Namco had planned next for the game.
The Season 3 trailer promised a new chapter for Tekken 8, with a strong emphasis on improved balance and a renewed focus on core gameplay principles. It also revealed the first three DLC characters set to arrive this season: Kunimitsu, Roger Jr, and Bob.
The announcement was met with widespread excitement, largely because Season 2 left many fans frustrated. Balance concerns, questionable system changes, and a general sense that the game had drifted away from its fundamentals made it a difficult period for the community.
According to the Season 3 trailer, the development team is aiming for a major balance overhaul, one that brings Tekken back to the ideas that originally defined the series. Movement, decision-making, and matchup knowledge are all implied to be key focuses going forward, although details remain scarce.
While the reaction has been mostly positive, there is also a noticeable level of skepticism. The trailer did not feature any actual gameplay, nor did it provide concrete examples of what the balance changes will look like in practice. Given recent history, some fans are understandably cautious about placing full trust in promises alone.
That said, the return of established characters like Kunimitsu and Bob, alongside the long-absent Roger Jr, has gone a long way toward restoring goodwill among longtime Tekken players.
Fortunately, players will not have to wait long to see whether these promises are delivered. Tekken 8 Season 3 is set to officially begin on February 9th and 10th, 2026, at which point the community will finally get hands-on experience with the changes.
With competitive confidence shaken but not broken, Season 3 may prove to be a defining moment for Tekken 8’s long-term future.
