Tekken 3 was released in 1997 and has been one of the best titles to ever come from the franchise. In recognition of this, the game was named among IGN's 25 best games ever released on PlayStation 1.
The article, which was a written to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the PlayStation 1, listed 25 amazing games including Resident Evil 2, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and Metal Gear Solid. Interestingly, Tekken 3 had the distinction of being the only fighting game on the list, and it was as far up as number 8.
Tekken 3 is fully deserving of such a placing as it was the game that introduced some of the fan favorites, including Jin Kazama, Eddy Gordo, Hwoarang, and Ling Xiaoyu. It was also the game that really made sidestepping a thing which became a staple of the game.
It added better graphics and was perhaps one of the more beginner-friendly and casual Tekken games.
