Street Fighter 6 Mod That Removes Drive Mechanic Gaining Traction

One of the biggest recent discussions around Street Fighter 6 has been around the Drive mechanic, specifically Drive Rush. After NoahTheProdigy won Frosty Faustings, there was a lot of talk about the state of the game all of which culminated in MenaRD's statement that Street Fighter 6 will be a better game without Drive Rush. 

This sparked a lot of discussion and debate and ultimately led to a fascinating discovery. 

As it turns out, there is a Street Fighter 6 mod that allows players to meddle with the Drive mechanics including changing the visual effects, armor properties, or removing them entirely. 

Interestingly, the mod has been available since the start of 2024, but it seems it hasn't had much traction with only 410 downloads so far. 

According to ApologyMan, a GGST player and a developer for 2XKO, he explained that statements like the one Mena made are easier when it hasn't been tested out and that this is why mods are great sometimes as it enables players to see if the things they say actually make for a better game. 

With a mod like this, players will be able to experience what Street Fighter 6 will be like without the Drive mechanic which is sort of what the entire game is built around. 

At the moment, no one has come forward to state what the experience is, so we'll have to wait to see if anyone actually tries it out.
