The final registration numbers for Evo Japan 2025 are out, and they are massive, but also very unevenly spread.
The total number ended up at 8665 players, a massive leap from 6797 attendees last year.
Funnily enough, despite such a drastic increase in registered players, most games saw decreased participation compared to 2024. Tekken 8 went from 1247 players to 961. Guilty Gear Strive dropped from 890 to 678. Granblue Fantasy also experienced a decrease from 761 player to 475.
The only real winner here is Street Fighter 6. Despite not experiencing any major changes or DLC releases, the game went from 5089 players to 6550, making it the second biggest SF6 tournament to date.
However, it's worth noting that there's also a fairly good turnout for 5 on 5 team tournaments for Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, with 83 teams registered for the former (415 players) and 71 for the latter (355 players).
