Street Fighter 4 Enhanced Mod Developer Discontinues the Project
The mod's creator is moving on to other things.

Merely 3 weeks after initial release, the creator of Street Fighter 4 Enhanced mod is annoucning that he's stepping away from the project.

Faabi cites lack of time to maintain the project as the main reason, presenting "adding rollback to Street Fighter 4" as just a little learning experience to get familiar with C++.

As many have pointed out since release, the project was done using Anthropic's Claude AI, and this pattern has been very common in the gaming space recently.

These big projects usually require both immense technical knowledge, passion, and free time. That's why proper work usually doesn't just sprint out of nowhere, and even after it becomes public, the work continues for years to come.

With AI releases, you instead these sudden big announcements followed that garner praise and attention, with their creators moving onto something else after that initial wave of clout.

In this case, Faabi gives a shout out to Street Fighter 4 Ember project, which popped up in May of this year and also has Claude as one of the contributors. Whether it was just one of commits or a major part of development is not exactly clear, but to their credit, it has been a long time and they still continue to try and improve it. So maybe there is hope for Street Fighter 4 netplay.
