Steam Gets PlayStation-Friendly
Steam Expands Controller Support for PlayStation and Other Devices

Valve's popular PC gaming platform, Steam, has rolled out an update aimed at improving support and discoverability for PlayStation and other controllers. Previously, Steam focused mostly on support for Xbox controllers.

The update adds controller compatibility information across the Steam store and library. Store pages now clearly show which major controllers are supported, including DualShock, DualSense, and Xbox. The controller-friendly hub features added filters to browse games by controller type. Shoppers can also search for titles supporting specific controllers.

In users' personal game libraries, Steam now displays notices if a controller is required or recommended to play a game. New controller configuration options make it easier to set up controllers. And users can create collections of controller-compatible games they own.

Data shows a significant growth in PlayStation controller usage on Steam, likely due to the popularity of PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles. Over the past four years, PlayStation controller sessions have increased 400% on Steam. Currently, 12% of active Steam players regularly use controllers.

The update aims to help millions of PC gamers with PlayStation and other controllers easily find compatible games. Steam will continue improving support across the over 200 compatible devices on the platform.
