Starter Guide for Peni Parker in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls

The latest character guide for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls features the youngest character in the game, in more ways than one.

Peni Parker made her debut in the crossover comic, Edge of Spider-Verse. One of many versions of Spider-Man, she answers the question "what if Spider-Man was an anime girl in a mech suit?"

And of course, it repeats the usual story of the character becoming a lot more popular once they appear on the big screen. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse really got the ball rolling in that regard, with her Marvel Rivals appearance further cementing her popularity.

The Marvel Tokon appearance is arguably somewhere in the middle, capturing both the adorable aspects of the character, while still putting heavy emphasis on the mecha component.

Peni is somewhat of a designated "weirdo" character. As in, pretty much her whole kit is rather unconventional. Somewhat similarly to Faust, she has an RNG gadget special that pulls out one of her many gadgets that can serve a different purpose.

One will speed towards your opponent and hit them with a low, another will slam down after jumping, yet another will fly up into the air and bind your opponent. With 8 different gadgets, Peni can set up countless unique interactions. Adapting to them on the fly is quite challenging, but that's why she gets to have some of the most expressive combos in the game.

Aside from that, she also gets some unique movement options. She won't be flying around or doing anything crazy, but you can at least cling to the wall like a spider and throw out some more gadgets.

The rest of her specials are a bit more conventional. She can use web to either pull in opponents from a distance, or swing around to become a massive spinning death machine. She also has a fairly standard multi-hit spinning move, and a bit more interesting leaping attack that will slam down on the ground, with you having some control of its position. 

While she's certainly not the most odd character ArcSys has ever put out, she certainly sticks out from the rest of the roster, and will likely offer quite a bit of a learning curve for anyone who likes adapting on the fly.
